That’s the $1,000,000 question! Every project is unique and building an accurate and comprehensive budget is a major part of our preconstruction work. However, we know that sometimes you just want a ballpark figure to get an idea of what your vision might cost, and in that spirit here are some ranges of our current builds.
Whole home remodels start at around $100+ per square foot. However, the total cost of the project will depend on various factors such as the size of the home, the scope of remodeling, the materials chosen, and the level of customization.
A typical kitchen remodel starts around $50,000, again, this is highly dependent on scope and finishes.
A new build is around $300+ per square foot. Again, this depends on a myriad of factors from site conditions to architectural design to type and number of windows, drywall finishes, paint, cabinets and the list goes on and on! It is common for architecturally driven new build projects to exceed $1000 per square foot.
How long does a typical remodeling project take?
For our fast track whole home remodels, the design, bid, and pre-order processes usually take 2 to 3 months. During this time, we work closely with you to refine the design, select materials, and finalize the details. The construction phase typically takes another 2 to 3 months, depending on the complexity of the project. However, it's essential to note that every project is unique, and timelines may vary accordingly. Our team's commitment to efficiency ensures that we complete your remodeling project promptly, without compromising on quality.
How do you charge for your remodeling services?
At Smith House Remodels, we have a transparent and fair pricing structure to ensure the best value for our clients. Our design-bid and interior design services are usually calculated at approximately 6% of the estimated total construction budget. This covers the comprehensive design planning and interior design aspects of the project, ensuring that your vision comes to life.
For the construction phase, we follow a cost-plus model. This means that the construction costs, including materials, labor, and subcontractor fees, are billed at their actual cost. In addition, we charge a builder's fee, which is a percentage of the construction cost. This cost-plus model aligns the interests of the builder and the client, fostering a collaborative approach where we work together to achieve the best version of the project within the established budget.
